Favourite StravinskyZ certainly seems worth opposing on a track and ground that seem unsuitable. Contrary to the favourite, Grand Panther looks likely to relish tonights conditions and must be high on the shortlist. The classy Lamb Stu is another who i feel might not appreciate tonights conditions. With negatives hanging over alot of the field, i feel this race may be left for Grand Panther who appears to have very few negatives against his name.

Almost Airborne stands head and shoulders above these in terms of class, however she has been priced on reputation alone at 4/5 and i feel she is highly vulnerable here tonight. She does see out the 3200 trip very well, but i feel on easy ground she finds it a lot tougher, and on that note i will take her on. Equally short in the betting is 2nd fav Sally Traffic at 5/4, she is an honest enough mare but has been plying her trade in claimers of late. She has to step up markedly on recent efforts if she is to justify her skinny price. Intrinsic Value certainly has a touch of class about her and also lasts the trip but again, on this rain softened ground i think she struggles a little in the closing stages. This leads me to Esme Crowfoot, despite somewhat lacking in class in comparison to the favourite, if the top 2 are to have an off day then i can see her picking up the pieces. At 10/1 bar the top 2 in the betting i am likely to have a small punt on each of the remaining 4 runners to ensure a decent return should any of them win, but as a lone choice Esme appeals at 18/1.

The Remote Part may lack a little class, but will be in the hunt for places, however Heady Heights looks a step ahead of this field tonight, and has been priced accordingly as a good thing. With everything in his favour he must not be opposed.

Things start to get competitive again tonight, after the recent age change. The better horses are emerging again, and here we see some nice stayers in action. The market is dominated by the Andy Hargie trained pair of Major Blitzkrieg and Miktosh. Miktosh has seen the rear end of his stable mate on a number of occasions, and tonight looks likely to be a similar story. Of last seasons 3 year olds, ResIpsaLocquitor could well be in the shake up, but he is up against some proven older horses tonight and this is a tough test.

Major Blitzkrieg is a class act, and on suitable conditions should be extremely hard to beat.

An interesting race, with some improving 2yo's taking on there elders here. My own horse The Orb Effect would prefer a fast surface but looks sure to be involved here. Am unsure about favourite Troubles Brewing as he has mainly contested handicaps, and might find this a little tougher. Accidental Hero and Midnight Dream look likely to be involved along with Let Me Atom. However i have a strong liking for Cougar Cat who appears grossly overpriced in what looks an average field. He has plenty of placed form in races of this standard, loves to get his toe in to a muddy surface, and looks sure to be bang there at the business end.

Only race worth looking at as a betting proposition tonight. Favourite Speed On Weed is a nice 2yo, but tonight takes on his elder for the 1st time, improvement is needed. Similar comments apply to Keep Left. Littlebitlively is a decent type, but am not convinced he will want to get his toe in on tonights soft surface. My idea of the winner is Heinz Fifty Seven. Yes, unfortunately he is my horse..! A lover of a soft surface, i expect him to come from well back and pick up the principals close home.

Well it was 1 of those nights, with both e/w selections filling the worst position avaliable to an e/w punter.. Tayasu Jacob ran a cracking race at 70/1 to fill 4th position, and Safety Play similarly filled 4th position.. A case of so near yet so far.

Well, after 3 days of no bets, today i feel this race offers the opportunity to dip the toe again. And i am going to be dipping in the very deep end. With many of the best horses in the race likely to be racing at less than full fitness, a shock could be in store. A horse who could provide that shock at massive odds of 70/1 is Tayasu Jacob. Capable of competing with the best when he gets his conditions, the price looks far too big to resist today. He will need to draw a top 4 jockey, but if he does, a place looks well within his reach.

Well, for a 3rd consecutive day, no selections will be advised tonight. In the 20-36 race i had thought Bob The Horse had looked a solid e/w selection, then i checked the price and found he was 9/10 which is ridiculously short., no value at all. The race is too competitive i feel to make him a win selection. While he holds strong claims, he is certainly not an odds on chance.
So, no value no bet.

Hope for better tomorrow, though as mentioned in an earlier post things might be very dry now until the new season begins on 1st Dec.

One of the low days today. Heady Heights romped to victory in the 19-55 race at restrictive odds of 9/10. Unfortunately Vampires Kiss ran a lifeless race, trailing home 4th of 5, admittedly under a poor jockey.

Think after a day of no tips yesterday, i was a little too keen to get selections out there. Hopefully beter bets will be had later in the week.

A small but competitive field for this sprint, with 4 of the 5 runners having strong claims, however i will take Vampires Kiss to go for the jugular, and lead this field home.

2 class acts meet head to head here, La Gazza Ladra and Heady Heights. Awesome as La Gazza Ladra is, tonights set up does not look ideal and he looks likely to play 2nd fiddle to Heady Heights on this occasion who loves a muddy surface.

Not much value in betting either to be honest, as bookies have both priced at odds on, but am highly confident of Heady's chances so will make him a selection.

Came close to suggesting Spitting Image as an e/w selection at generous odds of 30/1, but feel the rest of the field are fighting it out for 1 place position which takes the value out of betting e/w.

Going to have a day off today, identified 2 races but both look much too tight to call. In the 21-12 the top 3 in the market including 2 from Andy Hargie (Miktosh and Major Blitzkrieg), are hard to seperate with any confidence.
Also looked through the 21-36 race, but again the top 2 in the market La Gazza Ladra and Senor Frog look a tough challenge to seperate.

Today is a day to spend a few quid of current profits on something other than the horses..!

A good start to the week with TSIN Duke doing the business at 8/1 in the 21-24. This was followed by a defeat for Truth Or Dare who unfortunately was partnered by a shocking jockey.

Eclipse Stakes WFA 2-7 yo fillies

An interesting match in store here with young pretender Truth Or Dare taking on the classy and consistent Safety Play. Both have outstanding claims in this race, but following her recent win in the Desert Orchid race at the weekend i will take Truth Or Dare to continue her improvement and take the scalp of Safety Play.

At a massive price i fancy Norsk to step up on recent poor efforts and turn in a solid performance here tonight, with a place not out of the question by any means. Ahead of both of these though, i will take Tsin Duke to return to winning ways on this muddy surface.

REVIEW FOR RACING 19th NOVEMBER 2006

Tonights racing got off to a flyer with Laugh Often putting a smile on our faces, going in at a rewarding price of 8/1 in the 19-36 event.

This was followed by the narrowest of defeats for our 2nd selection Heinz Fifty Seven, owned and trained by myself, so was doubly painful.! He failed to land the odds by a fast diminishing 3rd of a length in the 20-24 race. Those who followed the e/w advice though would have got out with a small profit.

Finally in the 20-48, Desert Warrior ran a blinder to finish 4th at 13/1. Unfortunately 4th was not good enough to land the e/w punt, but overall a healthy profit was returned on the night.

I came close to suggesting KBM III as the selection to win, he has outstanding claims here, but i could not resist the price on offer for Desert Warrior. Not quite as classy as a few others in the race, on these conditions he rarely runs a poor race.

A tight looking sprint here. I'll be taking on fav Rex Rodney here. Play Up Pompey has great claims of hitting the frame, but i will be taking a chance on my own horse Heinz Fifty Seven. A classy individual on his day, he finds himself on favourable conditins tonight and holds outstanding claims of a top 3 finish at the very least.

REVIEW FOR RACING 18th NOV 2006

An excellent result in the 19-36 race, with both the top 2 in the market unplacing as i advised, and both selections coming home 1st and 2nd. Main selection Tayasu Jacob won well at 9/2, with the horse rated the main danger Let Me Atom following him home in 2nd place at 9/1.

The slection for the 20-48 race Dominion ran a cracking race, but was just edged out of the places, finishing 4th at 12/1.

Lord Of War looks well worth taking on here at skinny odds. I will be confidently backing Dominion e/w, coming to the end of his career, he is arguably in the best form of his life at present, and if everything falls right i can see this being a big scalp for him.

My main view on this race is that favourite Veni Vidi Vici looks well worth taking on. Along with him i will also be taking on 2nd favourite Tayasu Star. So with the 11/10 and 7/4 market leaders unfancied, the race looks likely to throw up some value.

I narrowly favour Tayasu Jacob over Let Me Atom, though i seriously think both will be right there at the death.

Again, not a great nights racing for betting purposes. We will stick with just the 1 selection mentioned below for tonight.

I'm hoping next week will see some interesting races and betting. With alot of horses likely to be switching stables in this weekends RaceClub auction, i feel sure plenty of horses will be raced differently in the near future with new stables experimenting with there new acquisitions.. This will no doubt lead to some good opportunities from a punting point of view next week..

Royal Kiah stands out here for me. A recent dip in form should not take away from this horse's obvious class. Returning to the scene of his most recent win, he is taken to resume winning ways this evening. An old horse of mine Mosey Along looks an appealing e/w price at 12/1, but i feel the selection will have a bit too much class.

A case of Sods Law tonight...Decided against a solid tip for Orange and Lemon, so obviously it went and won at a rewarding 5/1. I do hope 1 or 2 of you took a chance and bet him anyway, if not at least it goes to show that we are in good form, so hopefully i can weed out some nice bets over the weekend.

A poor nights racing ahead as far as betting opportunities go. Many small fields with little value.
Have tried hard to find a bet, but i can find nothing to put forward with any confidence.
The closest i came to a selection was Orange and Lemon in the 20-24 race, but at 5/1 i would not want to go mad about it's winning chances as it looks a very tight and competitive sprint, and it's on the short side for an e/w selection.Though i am optimistic about it's place chances.

The key to good profitable tipping is knowing when not to bet, as well as selecting winners..So today will be left a no bet day.

REVIEW FOR RACING 15th NOV 2006

Tonight again got off to an explosive start when in the 19-36 race Amadeus Mozart failed by a diminishing length to catch the classy Golden Dream. At odds of 44/1 Amadeus ran his heart out to bring home the e/w money.

In the following event at 19-48, Semtex suffered the fate of a poor jockey and could only manage a 4th place finish.

The 20-36 race also failed to go to plan, with Space Waster running a lifeless race down the field in 8th, the race was won by another given a favourable mention Tayasu Dylan. Dissapointing, as i would have certainly tipped him had he been fit, but he managed to shrug off a small lack of fitness to win cosily.

Fortunes turned again in the 20-48 with the e/w tip Lamb Stu plugging on gamely to hold 3rd position close home, and secure another nice price place at 13/1.

This race looks pretty competitive, with few standout bets. I do believe Veni Vidi Vici looks vulnerable on these conditions and i will happily leave him out of calculations. Favourite Golden Dream looks the likely winner, but i will take him on with another big price play. Amadeus Mozart beat the favourite back in september, under a stronger ride admittedly, but a similar ride tonight could well see him hit the frame at odds of 44/1.
